Wayne L. Kennedy
Wayne L. (Dadoo) Kennedy, age 76, passed away Monday, May 31, 2010, at the Lubbock Heart Hospital.
Wayne was born and raised on a ranch near Post, Texas. He earned his undergraduate degree at Hardin Simmons-University, majoring in business and earning minors in economics and education. He enjoyed student teaching at Abilene High school so much that, once he graduated from college, he decided to keep teaching. Kennedy later earned a masters degree and administration certification at Texas Tech University during which time he also served in the U.S. Navy being stationed on a destroyer based in San Diego.
Mr. Kennedy's long and prosperous career in the education field began in 1957, and his commitment to education was demonstrated throughout his 43 years of service as a teacher and elementary administrator in Snyder, Texas. As a teacher, Kennedy kept in close contact with his students. As a principal, he said he helped them to get whatever they needed in school.
Wayne is survived by his wife Peggy and his brother Ronnie (wife Alma Jean). Also surviving are sons Sean (wife Glenda), Damon (wife Susanne), and Brett, plus numerous nieces and nephews, and a large extended family. Wayne was named Dadoo by Leyna, his oldest granddaughter. The name was then adopted by the next three granddaughters: Kaitlyn, Madelyn, and Claire. Through the years, many have grown to know him by this name.
