If early Wednesday morning the world seemed inexplicably short of a certain insouciant intelligence, it was sadly explicable: BLee Dorn, one of our quickest and drollest souls, died at home after a long illness. She was 83 years old. The only child of Leslie and Blanche Stringer, Mrs. Dorn was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on November 28, 1926. Following her high school years at Hockaday, she attended two years of Chevy Chase College in Washington, and then returned to Texas and its well known university in Austin from which she graduated in 1949. Later that year, she married John Dorn, and they moved to Midland.
In addition to her husband John, daughter Rebecca, and three sons Leslie, Stephen and Timothy, BLee is survived by her grandchildren: Sarah Margaret and Martha Elizabeth Kniesler, and Michelle, Travis and Bridget Dorn. She also leaves behind - in theaters, rivers, bookstores, bars, penthouses and tents - countless friends who feel this loss so acutely
In lieu of flowers, it is suggested memorial contributions be made to Midland College. You can call the Foundation office at (432) 685-4526 for more information. If you wish to make an online donation, visit Give a Gift or, you can mail your donation to:
