John Gunter

Midland College lost a dear friend when John Gunter passed away on May 21. Mr. Gunter served as co-trustee with Carol Subia, and attorney for the Bill Pace Cogdell Trust, which funds the Bill Pace Cogdell Scholarship. Alfredo Chaparro, MC's Community Services Director, said of Mr. Gunter, "he was a very diligent Trustee for the Scholarship, always interested in serving the best interests of the students."

Mr. Gunter ardently believed in higher education and was a strong supporter of Midland College. He played an instrumental role in getting Mr. Cogdell to leave such a generous portion of his estate to Midland College. Since 1999, the Bill Pace Cogdell Scholarship has enabled over 40 students from disadvantaged backgrounds to earn degrees from MC and UTPB.
